JB Speed Building
From Engineering Exposition
Traditionally regarded as the main building on the Speed School of Engineering campus, the J. B. Speed Building is also the oldest building belonging to the engineering school, having been completed in 1942. The building is named for James Breckenridge Speed, a Louisville businessman and philanthropist whose foundation granted the money used to start the Speed School of Engineering. This building currently houses the Dean’s office, the Engineering Fundamentals Department, the Industrial Engineering Department, and many student organizations including Speed School Student Council.
